Cascavel - PR

The occupation of the region opened in 1557, with the Spaniards, to found the Ciudad del Guayrá. The region falls into oblivion, and in 1730, opened a new occupation, with the action of ´´tropeirismo``.

In March 1928, José de Oliveira Silverio, trader known as "Uncle Jeca", leased the land of settlement of crossroads, located at the junction of several trails open by ervateiros, military and ´´tropeiros``. His spirit empreededor facilitated the arrival of people brought ideas and investments. From the decades of 30 to 40, thousands of southern settlers, mostly descendants of Poles, Ukrainians, Germans and Italians, as well as ´´caboclos ``from the cafes’ regions, began the exploitation of timber, agriculture and production of pigs. It becomes district in 1938. The district has become city in December 14, 1952. Later in the decade of 60, the Japanese also set up there.

 
NAME
The word "cascavel" leads is a variation of the Latin classic "caccabus" whose meaning is "bubbled` d 'boiling water. " The name came from a group of settlers who, pernoitando, on the outskirts of a river found a large nest of snakes ´´cascavéis``, named it Cascavel. The sound of the rattle resulted in the name of the snake: the Latin "tintinnabulum," literally "the badalar of cowbell." Symbol of power and wisdom, snake, cultuada in seniority.
